Analysts: 2017, Market Share Down 50 Percent Will the iPad
CALIFORNIA - market research firm, NPD Group predicts Apple's market share on the tablet will decrease by 50 percent in 2017. Meanwhile, other platforms such as Android and Windows-based devices will slowly catch up iPad domination until 2014.

Reported by Appleinsider, Saturday (05/05/2012), the findings reported in the Quarterly Tablet NPD Group. Research reveals that the overall estimate of the tablet market will soar from 81.6 million units in 2011 to 424.9 million units in 2017.

In addition, the report also noted the worldwide tablet shipments will surpass the notebook in 2016. Shipments surge was driven by a series of improvements in the features, the diversity of operating systems and production capacity.

"So far in a relatively young product category, trades tablet PC has been dominated by Apple. It includes a number of competing products having the same configuration with the iPad," said NPD DisplaySearch Senior Analyst Richard Shim.

He said the market also will grow and competition becomes more able to adjust to consumer choice. Not only that, the vendors could also try to find opportunities to break new ground.

"We expect the landscape changed dramatically. Giving consumers more choices that will drive demand for devices with higher numbers anymore," he concluded.

  1. Hey my son 8 year old was broken his tooth just exactly like above picture. that is the permanent teeth. So have to really really carefully when playing with it. the big lesson for us. Even we spend money to fix the teeth but it can not give back the real teeth. all parent have to aware of that. And i hope Apple should put this issue priority to find out the resolution to avoid it happen or recall it.
